Jim Mazzeo is a lifetime New Yorker, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Jim started in the real estate business in 1974 as a Housing Assistant for the New York City Housing Authority. In 1976 Jim went to work for the Lefrak Organization as a rental agent renting Lefrak apartments in Brooklyn and Queens. In 1982 Jim went to work for J.I. Sopher & Co first starting with rentals but very quickly moving into selling co-ops and condos in Manhattan, speacializing in the sales of lofts and buildings in Soho and Tribeca.
Over the years Jim became invloved in all aspects of real estate business selling apartments of all sizes including commercial lofts, stores and offices, and rented commercial space and retail, including restaurants. Jim was first promoted to Sales Manager and in 1991 became Director of Sales for J.I. Sopher & Co's three office locations. In 1996, Mr Sopher sold his company and Jim left to build a sales division for another company.
In 2002 Jim launched Weichert Realtors, Mazzeo Agency becoming one of the first franchise affiliates of the giant Weichert Realtors and is now President of his own successful real estate company. Jim is also the Secretary for the Manhattan Association of Realtors® for 2007. He served on the organization’s Board of Directors throughout 2006.
